The Chapman Family
The Chapman Family are a group of four miserable northerners from Teesside, England who created their own brand of intensely dark and noisy indie, as they were tired of being bored and uninspired by the same old bands week in, week out.
As much inspired by folk as hardcore punk, their occasionally chaotic gigs can change from the euphoric to the apocalyptic in an instant, with awesome ferocity.
Truly terrifying and spellbinding in equal measure, this undeniably magnificent and vital outfit send tremors of such power down your spine it is possible they may shatter some vertebrae. Gargantuan!

Hoodlums
Although we here at Bloody Awful Poetry do love a good lyrical waxing when it comes to describing bands, hotly tipped Hoodlums have had so many wordy wonders and critical acclaim thrown at them it is difficult to see how anything else said will matter - for you should already be tying your laces and preparing to head for the door, ticket in hand.
These musical cohorts are frankly incredible. Bouncing pop tunes with pure punk undertones and Irish glee and American skiffle as a side order. Phenomenal!
"Like poetic young men let loose in the country with a piano and double bass. Whatever next?" - Steve Lamacq.
"Hoodlums have your empathy and your heart." – Time Out.
"Sit up and take notice, Hoodlums are coming to a town near you. And they're right snazzy dressers to boot." – I-D.
“F****** brilliant ... Freshest, most original and vibey thing I've heard for weeks. What a wonderful sounding band and great great songs. Restored my faith in new music.” – Tom Robinson (6 Music).
"Estuary boys, Hoodlums, are not hoodies. They have quiffs. And twangy, quivery guitar riffs. You'll be well chuffed, owning it." – Artrocker.
"Absolutely phenomenal" - Russel Kane, Q Music.

Media Circus
Simply one of the most immense and breathtaking new bands in London. Creating some of the most euphoric and intricately arranged compositions that Bloody Awful Poetry has ever laid its aural spuds on seems to come so naturaly to Media Circus it's verging on unhealthy.
It took Elbow nearly two decades to arrive at the summit of heart stopping genius - to look at Media Circus, you might well think that that's their combined age, and they're already unravelling their flag.
Think Biffy Clyro or Snow Patrol - soaring verses and skyscraper choruses, but there are also some uptempo cuts that will have the room shuffling as one! Fantastical, magical, honest and powerful. Truly a masterclass in musical mastery exudes from the fingertips and drumsticks of this pretty much perfect band.
If you are to open your hearts and ears to one new band this year - it simply must be Media Circus. Awesome in its conception. Overwhelming in its execution.
